revolution studios
Revolution Studios is a new studio complex in the heart of Sydney. It is owned and run by Genevieve Maynard, producer and engineer of a diverse range of artists including bluejuice who recently came in at number 11 on jjj's Hottest 100 with their song 'Vitriol', and stella one eleven who achieved a National Top 20 with 'Go Slow Girl'. The studio is centrally located with free secure parking.
While the studio has its own kitchen facilities, it is also surrounded by
cafes, restaurants, hotels and supermarkets helping sessions run with minimal
disruption
and ease.
Revolution Studios has a large main live room, an iso booth within the second live room, an iso airlock and a large control room, resulting in an extremely versatile set of spaces. The main room is large enough to record thirty-piece Fijian church choir with room to spare.
The studio houses a Hammond organ and Lesley cabinet and two pianos are
available for use - a Kawai grand piano and a Collard and Collard upright piano with a completely
different tonality.
The main console is a Toft Series ATB, by the designer Nicolas Toft of Trident fame.
Outboard includes Class A pre-amps and compression, Avalon, Empirical Labs, Urei, UAD, Brook, Toft, dbx, TLA, Lexicon and TC. A range of microphones including Neumann, Sennheiser, AKG, Meek, Rode, Peluso and Shure help ensure you get the best out of your project.
Ten years ago the DIY ethic was in full swing and many bands bought a home studio set up. Increasingly, bands are returning to track instruments in professional studios and using their own smaller studios for overdubs and editing. Revolution Studios’ layout and philosophy is ideal for bands wanting to work in this way.
